Today at Oxon Cove there were 2 P-b Grebes and a Ring-necked Duck,
species not normally found there. The ponds in the "land-fill" sported 7
Gadwalls and a Tundra Swan besides the usual Mallards. A curious
"kettle" of 5 Bald Eagles (3a, 2 1st-yr) over these ponds was also unusual.
I should mention that in the Anacostia River at the Benning Rd Bridge
y'day were 7 Common Mergs (6 females) and 3 Ruddies, one looking very
spring-like - species I have not seen that far up the river before.
