Hi all just a quick note to report that this morning 3 - 2 06
between 7:00 am and 8:30 am about 20 differant flocks of Canada
Geese flying over in v formation headed north , I was working so could
not get any counts but some flocks had 50 to 60 [ rough guess ] birds at a
time . This was in Queen Annes County near Queenstown . Also Robins
back on lawns and feeding in the fields. After lunch a flock of about
100 Red winged Blackbirds feeding in a field near by . I heard a load
whoosh sound and I looked up in time to see an Accipter species rushing at
the blackbirds . The blackbirds flew up into cover except one bird
followed closely by the hawk. The Red Wing escaped though and the hawk
went without its lunch . It was a thrilling chase to witness for a couple
of minutes . The hawk was a sharpshinned or Coopers Hawk if I had to
guess.
