Some birders who really love the science and sport of birding
believe that constant vigil is the path to purity of MD records.
(Confucius?)
I have weaker evidence for a winter Maryland Yellowthroat in the
Piedmont - Feb 8, 2004 in sun-warmed vines in a ravine north of
New Windsor. It was calling like a COYE, but I never saw the
whole bird. My field notes say "Lower belly and undertail were
yellow." I recorded this bird as a possible or maybe - it does
not go on any permanent list of mine. This winter has been milder
than in recent years - your COYE may have been a holdover, too.

... Of course it is extremely unlikely that a Common
Yellowthroat would be singing on March 1st!
That is PRECISELY why I went through the effort of letting Rob
know so all of you could find out about
it. ... |
