FW: [MDOSPREY] IDing tricolored blackbirds?

This is overly simplistic, but for someone who is looking for the Tricolored
Blackbirds in California, look for it in breeding season.  

If it nests by itself and defends territory, it's a Red-winged Blackbird.
If it nests colonially, it's a Tricolored Blackbird.  Once that was
observed, I concentrated on the specifics of the bird.
