Hi Folks,
Charlie Kucera and I met at UMBC's Conservation and Environmental Research
Area (CERA) this fine still evening to see if the woodcocks were displaying,
and weren't disappointed. This is the fifth season in a row we have come
here this time of year to check out the activity. We had five woodcocks fly
over our heads, watched one excellent display from inception to conclusion,
and heard one or two other displays. Also present to enjoy the
timberdoodles was Robin Todd of Howard Co.
While the woodcocks were an enjoyable spectacle, our best bird of the outing
was a flyby MERLIN at dusk, our first ever at UMBC.
