An exciting find for me today was a pair of Horned Larks at the Middletown Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church (1811 Arnold Rd, Jefferson, MD 21755-9601). They were seen adjacent to the gravel ring road’s southernmost portion on Monday 6 March in the afternoon. For those interested directions are:
4 miles south of Middletown traffic light on MD Hwy 17, turn right onto Arnold Road, and church driveway is on the left.

There is a nesting pair of Killdeer at the same location, although their actual nest may be in the neighboring church’s graveyard. I had hoped to find the nest today, which was why I was there in the first place, but was unsuccessful.
