This morning there were two Canada Geese perched on
the corner of a building roof; I think they're going
to try to nest there again. Canada Geese have been
trying to nest or have actually nested in downtown
Bethesda on buildings for roughly 10 years. Shortly
before I saw them, I saw and heard a Canada Goose
flying eastward over downtown Bethesda. This lone
bird just may have been a different goose, as I have
seen four Canada Geese fly around the buildings
together in various Marches and Aprils.

While the geese were sitting there, two immature
Red-shouldered Hawks flew over, one of them calling,
and one briefly landed on a different building before
taking off. All this before I even went inside my
office building!

Soon after I arrived, I looked out my office window
and saw a hawk which could have been a Red-shoulder
gliding rapidly away in the mid-distance. My view of
it was such that it could conceivably have been a
Cooper's Hawk or even a Peregrine Falcon; it clearly
was not anything smaller. And the geese were still
perched on the top of the building.

I'm not sure what I will see next. I think it's time
to draw the blinds.
