With the nice weather this afternoon, I decided to give my motorcycle a
little exercise. I made a brief stop at Conowingo dam and saw my first
Osprey of the year. There was an immature Bald Eagle on one of the
towers. Since I did not have my binoculars with me, I could not do a
better survey.

Later, when I did have my binoculars, I stopped briefly at Lapidum Boat
Launch and observed about 150 Bonaparte's Gulls on the water. They were
very spread out and most were sitting on the water, so it was difficult
to determine if other species were among them and I found none.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
