What a surprise!  A neighbor (the one we took to see the woodcocks at UMBC)
came over this a.m. and said 
"There's a woodcock in our yard!".  Sure enough it is sitting on the
sidewalk not moving a muscle.  I'm thinking the bird is either scared and
just trying not to be noticed or injured, so I will go check on it in 20
minutes or so.  Quite a few neighbors let their cats out so I'm concerned
about its safety if it is injured.
