Dear All

Slightly belatedly I wanted to report seeing a group of about 70 swallows
at Great Falls last saturday 4th March. They weere in a tall kettle over
the centre of the rapid viewed from the viewing platform by the car park on
the Maryland side and with poior light were difficult to see any detail
on. I presume that they must have been Tree Swallows.

More up to date. I read the report of Tundra Swans at 7.30 over Silver
Spring yesterday evening and a few hours later, just as I had got into bed
and switched out the light I heard a reasonable sized group come over our
house (Van Ness, NW DC). By the time I had realised what was going on, got
up and got the window open they were out of sight but still audible. They
were very low and my guess would be about 30-40 birds.

Just hope for more for our office list....

Cheers

Gary
