Hi all --

Barry and I went over to the intersection of River and Sycamore Landings Rds. this evening to look for the Woodcock reported by Don Simonson; there were quite a few other birders there. We stood at the edge of the field on the SW corner. The first "peent" was about 6:20 and we had a WC fly right by us at about 6:30 and go over the road into the plowed field on the SE corner, where we heard it call several times. Then there was quite a bit of action though apparently not as many birds as yesterday -- perhaps 8 or so (hard to tell, several calling at once and also, flying about). Also a few in the other field. We left about 7 as it was getting too dark to see but a few birds were still calling.

Other birds of interest (most heard only):

Bobwhite (one calling just at dusk, a number of times -- this is a "dog training " area, so could this have been a released bird? It's been quite a few years since either of us has heard a Bobwhite in Montgomery Co.)
Great Horned Owl
Barred Owl
Tundra Swans (overhead, unseen)
Wood Duck (flyover)
