National Arboretum, DC, 3/13/06, 8:35-9:35 AM
The area around the Capitol columns hosted a single WILSON'S
SNIPE, in the wet area down the hill and to the north of the columns, as
well as the RED-HEADED WOODPECKER in the trees to the east (located with
the help of fellow birder Tom Jones).
Other treats included two Red-Tailed Hawks, a Bald Eagle
fly-over, a pair of calling Northern Flickers and some late
White-Throated Sparrows.
One lifer (the Snipe) and two new DC birds - not bad for a
Monday morning.
Good Birding!
