Jim Stasz spotted the Lesser Black-backed Gull this afternoon in Washington
Co. just south of where the Antietam Creek empties into the Potomac. By the
time I arrived in the area the gull had flown up river. Stasz and I drove
up to the parking lot just south of the railroad bridge at Sheppardstown and
walked down stream hoping to relocate the bird. After walking a short
distance south of the parking lot on the towpath we spotted the Lesser
Black-back working its way back down the river where it was nice enough to
land on a rock so we could get really good scope views of the bird. Hans and
Jim both have photos of the bird.
