The new book - The Singing Life of Birds: The Art and Science of Listening
to Birdsong by Donald Kroodsma also details female Cardinals singing.

I highly recommend this book. It takes bird song much further than any
bird song CD could ever explain.

Do wrens learn their song from their fathers or their neighbors?
Why do the songs on the tape sound different from what I hear in the field -
even compared to my trust CD collection?
What the heck are those Barred Owls making monkey noises for?

A great book with a cd - and beginners need not be intimidated. The book
is packed with lots of ah - ha! information.

In bird sightings - I saw a mature Bald Eagle over Kingman Island this
morning from the metro line. A nice way to start the day.
