I am a relatively new birder, new to Osprey and since the "yellow" book reports red-eyed vireos as arriving next month it is with great trepidation that I post this sighting of a red eyed vireo in the woods bordering the Community College of Balt Co. adjoining the Hilton area of the Patapsco State Park in Baltimore County. It was very active, white supercilium and bordering black stripes prominent, not singing, near a little creek.

The second highlight of my lunchtime walk was a Pileated who landed in the same area and started working on a down log for my viewing delight.

To add to the birdy day, a Downy flew in our open office windows (it was registering 82 degrees in the building). I managed to shoo it out without too much trauma I hope.
