Sorry for late post, my internet connection has been down.

Yesterday somewhere around 1:30 pm, a circling immature Cooper's Hawk was
making a circling two dozen or so pigeons very nervous. This was on
Independence Ave., a tad east of the Freer Gallery. After a few moments of
circling, it moved on, out of sight, to the east.

Earlier, about 12:30, at Constitution Gardens, a pair of American Wigeons
were grazing on the little island on the north side. Presumably the same
pair I saw there a few weeks back. Housekeeping?

Finally, at roughly 07:30 on Wednesday morning, a Downy Woodpecker was
drumming on the glass globe of a street lamp at 21st and C, NW. Unusual
choice of sounding board!
