Walking at Lake Roland this evening around 5:45 p.m., I was rather startled
to see a black and white warbler near the end of the path that comes close
to the Hirondelle Club, about 10 feet in front of me. I'm still learning
migration/arrival dates, but this seemed somewhat early to me--but then
again, time has a way of getting away from me lately! Has anyone else seen
them, or other warblers besides the Palms I've seen reported here (and of
which I saw one tonight as well)? I also saw what I'm pretty positive was
a broad-winged hawk. Other birds sighted on this walk only partially
devoted to birding included:

bluebirds (4)
white-throated sparrows (lots)
wood ducks (2)
cardinals
tufted titmice
chickadees
red-bellied woodpecker (1)
pileated (heard only)
downy woodpecker (1)
carolina wrens (2)
turkey vultures
canada geese
juncos
red-tailed hawk
