Hi all,
I started atlasing today (late I know) and the very first bird confirmed
was just moments from the parked van, a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks nesting in
a sycamore tree right along Brighton Dam Rd. Best bird of the morning! But
we (my daughter Alli is home on spring break and joined me) also saw a
beautiful Yellow-throated Warbler, only the second or third one I have seen in
eastern Montgomery County away from the Potomac River basin. We also saw a
"yellow" Palm Warbler, two Louisiana Waterthrushes, and many Yellow-rumps, making
it a 4 warbler morning. Not bad for April 1. Lots of bluebirds, phoebes, wood
ducks etc. along the Hawlings River too, and a very nice morning to be out. I
forgot how much I miss atlasing!

If only we'd have seen a Parula...
