I was able to ID it by comparing it to an Eastern Phoebe (which I also saw that day).  It looked and acted differently than the Phoebe, and didn't pump its tail when perched.  It also perched higher up than the Phoebe.

Hi Richard,
 How were you able to ID the Eastern Wood-Pewee? Did you see and  hear it?  
It is WAY early for this species (earliest record is April 17). A  voice only 
ID would have likely been something else, as would have been a  seen-only bird.
