Wilson's snipe have been reported recently, in particular at Huntley Meadows


where I saw one.  In looking at my records, I listed a "common snipe" last

year at Huntley. (I was in a group where someone else identified it.)  In my

guidebooks (Peterson, Sibley, Kaufman, Nat'l Geographic), they either list

only a Wilson's or a common, not both.  The earlier books seem to list

common and the later ones Wilson's.

 

Was there a name change?  Should I change my earlier notation of common to

Wilson's?
