My resident pair of cardinals displayed some odd behavior this morning.  As 
the female was perched on our deck rail, the male flew up and joined her 
there. As soon as he landed, the female pointed her beak and tail straight 
up in the air and sat stone-still. The male sat there and looked at her for 
a while then flew a few feet away. She immediately resume her normal 
activity.  Anyone observe this posture before?
