   This morning I did some birding in the grassland areas of northwest Carroll County and along the Monocacy River.

Breeding Birds:
Red-headed Woodpecker - 4 on Baumgardner Road S with three sorting out domestic relationships on the south side of Piney Creek and one more heard calling on the north side of the creek
Warbling Vireo - 1 singing at Mumma Ford on the Frederick County side of the river
Rough-winged Swallow - 3 at Little Pipe Creek Park in Union Bridge
Barn Swallow - 2 at Little Pipe Creek Park
House Wren - 2 heard along back roads
Louisiana Waterthrush - 1 heard singing along Sams Creek
Vesper Sparrow - 3 singing along Sixes Bridge Road
Savannah Sparrow - a pair seen plus 1 heard singing along Sixes Bridge Road and one heard singing on Winters Church Road
Grasshopper Sparrow - 2 heard singing along Sixes Bridge Road, my earliest ever by one day

Migrants:
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1 singing at Mumma Ford
Myrtle Warbler - 2 heard singing at Mumma Ford
White-crowned Sparrow - 1 singing along Sixes Bridge Road

   On the way home I stopped at Westminster Reservoir:
