Hi all --

Still early for migrants at Rock Creek Park, DC, but a bit more activity than two days ago. Birds seen or heard around Picnic area 17/18, Equitation Field, Stable and Maintenance Yard included:

Palm Warbler (4, yellow), Pine Warbler (2), Ovenbird (1, first of year for us), Worm-eating Warbler (heard only, different spot than Tuesday's bird), Common Yellowthroat (3), Myrtle Warbler (25), Black-and-White Warbler seen by another birder (1), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (35), Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher (3), Blue-headed Vireo (2), Brown Thrasher (2), Gray Catbird (1), Winter Wren (1), Purple Finch (6), Swamp Sparrow (3), Field Sparrow (2), Chipping Sparrow (12), Hermit Thrush (6). Lots of Blue Jays going over, many many Goldfinches around, a few lingering Juncos and White-throats. Another birder also reported a late Red-breasted Nuthatch this morning.

We spoke to one of the naturalists and he and another NPS biologist saw a Wild Turkey hen last week near the Maintenance Yard!
