Talbot County Birders visited the Izaak Walton Forest and nearby stream
bottoms near Trappe, MD, under the leadership of Jan Reese. Following the
walk, a delicious breakfast was hosted by Wayne and Joyce Bell.
Fifty-four species of birds were seen or heard, including:

Bald Eagle
Cooper's Hawk
Turkey Vulture
Wood Duck (many, including a flock of ~20 in a plowed field)
Greater Yellowlegs
Belted Kingfisher
Eastern Kingbirds (3)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Wood Thrush
Brown Thrasher
Woodpeckers (Downy, Hairy, Pileated, Red-bellied and Flicker)
Chipping Sparrow (building nests at two sites)
Common Yellowthroat
Northern Parula
Ovenbird
Pine Warbler
Savannah Sparrow

Following the breakfast, three of the birders proceeded to Pickering Creek
to search for the reported Ruff. The Ruff was not sighted. However, there
were numerous other shorebirds, including Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser
Yellowlegs, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, Killdeer, Least Sandpiper and Pectoral
Sandpiper.
Also: Blue-winged Teal, Black Ducks, Green-winged Teal, Northern
Rough-winged Swallows, Barn Swallows and numerous Tree Swallows.
