All,

There were 12 female Common Mergansers at the wide water near the Billy 
Goat Trail on the C&O Canal today about 12:30.  Also a lone Canada 
Goose, a Barred Owl calling, many gnatcatchers, yellow-throated 
warblers, northern parulas, a yellow-throated vireo, and probably some 
other stuff I forgot.  It wasn't a birding trip so I didn't take notes.  
Thought the Common Mergansers odd though.
