Hi alll a quick note to to mention   that  female  Ruff at pickering Creek   
showed its self for viewing  at about 5:00 pm  yesterday afternoon  4 -  25 
.     The bird I saw  looked like what  Les Roslund has described .   It was 
  in back  pond in grass as per todays post from Les .   while it was not 
preening  the white at the base of the bill  could be seen  as well as the 
black marks on the breast. when   preening  it lifted its wings up   and 
body underneath was very whitish .     at the time of the  viewing there was 
one other birder presant  as well .
