Dear Ospreyers,

It was interesting to see J.B's post on loons at Rocky Gap. I just this morning saw 23 common loons flying north over Patterson Park, including one calling in flight. Looking back over my records I see this is exactly the same date that I saw a slightly larger number last year.

Also large numbers of White-throated Sparrows (c200) in the park with many singing. Other migrants are Hermit Thrush (5), Brown Thrasher, (2), gnatcatcher (2), House wren (1), towhee (5), ruby-crowned kinglet (1), swamp sparrow (1).

Yesterday there was a pair of blue-winged teal, a belted kingfisher, 2 ospreys and 2 caspian terns at the lake in the park. Not bad for this site!

Dave
