This Tuesday evening, May 2, in the Cylburn Mansion at the Cylburn
Arboretum in northern Baltimore City, Gene Scarpulla will speak on
"Hart-Miller Island South Cell Restoration: transforming dredged
material into wildlife habitat"
Hart-Miller Island was created from the placement of material
dredged from the Chesapeake Bay. The South Cell of the island
stopped receiving dredged material in 1990. A $6 million
environmental restoration has transformed the South Cell into
wetland and upland habitat that has attracted several of
Maryland's rarer breeding birds. Come hear about this restoration
and the successes that have resulted.
All who are interested are welcome. The mansion doors open at 7:15
and Gene will begin his talk at approximately 7:45.
