Looks like no one else has posted yet about the morning at Rock Creek Park. Peter Frechtel and I spent the morning at the maintenance yard. I believe we saw mostly the same birds others have seen the last few days--not much change today. Total of 9 warbler species--we couldn't crack double digits. The highlight for us was the BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, which early in the morning sat quite still and gave us a really nice look (we hear he got more active and started singing later). Also a NASHVILLE, which I got a nice but brief look at. The others were usual suspects, though hearing a PALM singing was a first for me.
Other birds of note:
Great-crested Flycatcher
Hermit Thrush
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Cedar Waxwings
2 Swamp Sparrows
plenty of White-throateds
Baltimore Oriole
Another birder reported briefly hearing the Cape May Warbler that has been around the Nature Center the last few days and also saw a Yellow-billed Cuckoo; we headed over but were unsuccessful in finding these birds. Nice looks at a couple of Wood Thrushes at the little pond, though.
