Had a quick ride in this morning, but highlights included a male AMERICAN
WIGEON in company with a handful of male mallards. I first spotted an "odd
pair" flying over the swamp (the wigeon in the company of a single mallard),
which was then joined by 3 other mallards from at the swamp. It was the
three of these taking to the air that drew my attention. They flew off and
I found them again at the golf course pond near the driving range, and was
able to get a better look and a conclusive ID. This pond is easily
accessible from University Ave (Rt. 193) and often has Killdeer about and,
not infrequently, a Great Blue Heron.

Other highlights were year-birds: Grey Catbird and Wood Thrush, also 3-4 N.
Parulas, one Y-R Warbler, 3 White-eyed vireos. Yesterday, had Derek's Chat
in the North Tract had when I got home, B-G gnatcatchers in the yard =)!

Good Birding.
