Took a day off from the park yesterday in order to do the Huntley Meadows birdathon with Ben Jesup. Came back this morning to find all heck breaking loose--lots of new migrants, and many of them singing. Best birds were a singing CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK (squeaking incessantly, but took a while to find), and a singing FIELD SPARROW.

Others of note:
2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets
B-G Gnatcatcher
Blue-headed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Black-throated Blue Warbler (a first for the park, singing and cooperative)
Black-throated Green Warbler
Yellow-rumps
Chipping Sparrow (6)
Baltimore Oriole (at least one male)
A flyover swallow that might have been a Tree
The first American Crow in a long time

Probably will do a Mall walk later today--Ben Jesup reports a good morning at his patch down in Alexandria, so it looks like today could be a good one.
