I just got a message from a Ms. Laurin of NCR (a Canadian agency?) about
the origin of the Schoolhouse Pond Trumpeter Swan. From the numbers on
the band, they were able to determine that the swan was banded by Harry
Lumsden as HY-U on October 15, 2005 in Grand Valley, Ontario.

The swan is still present at the pond, usually in the grassy area near the
fishing pier/deck just off Governor Oden Bowie Drive. It has been pretty
lethargic today, spending most of its time standing or sleeping in this
area. It is also very approachable, at times appearing to look for
handouts. However, it was swimming on the pond yesterday, and a co-worker
saw it in flight earlier in the week.
