Hi,

Lisa Shannon and I were fortunate to see the SEDGE WREN that Barry Cooper found in the maintenance yard near the nature center in Rock Creek Park this morning. We were there hoping to see the Golden-winged Warbler reported yesterday, but didn't. The Sedge Wren was most cooperative for a couple of minutes, giving us side, front, belly, and top views! This is the best view I've had of the species since my life view of a singing male in New York some 30 or so years ago. This was a life bird for Lisa. Warbler diversity was low at the yard, but we did here a Kentucky Warbler on the way back to our cars.

Paul Pisano called me from somewhere along the rivers (a polo field?) to report a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW and what might possibly be a female Dickcissel.

Cheers,

Rob Hilton
