Queens Annes County May count highlights 5 - 13 - 06

Hi all I covered  the Queenstown , Centreville area for the Queens Annes 
County  May count  my total was  about  77 species and   hardly  any 
warblers  seen or heard . Also had a little Car trouble  in the early 
afternoon and  after about an hour  Got straight to go again  .    The day 
began 5:50 Am  with Woodthrush   total for the day was  17  and ended near 
9:00 Pm   with  1 Chuck -  Will's  - Widow. There was a nice showing of 
Shorebirds With 1 Black bellied plover in the Pond  on Route 309  1 mile 
from 213 . In a pond  near Queenstown  were  2 Dunlin , 2  Shortbilled 
Dowitcher  13 Great Egrets here as well . A  field near  Starr held most of 
the Gulls I had for the day  laughing Gulls 211, Ring Billed  13 .  In the 
Town Of Queenstown  I watched the only  Hairy Woodpecker of the day  feeding 
  on a spilt rail fence   around a yard    1 post and a rail had some large 
feeding holes in them .   Some good woodpecker food must be infesting that 
fence .  Other Highlights

Canada  Goose  26
Wood Duck  13  inculding  several  young
Green Winged Teal     1 male  1 female
Eastern  Phoebe     1 adult      1 recently out of the nest  youngster
Robins       66
Eastern    Bluebirds      only   2
Yellow  Rumped Warbler    1
Ovenbird       5
Common     Yellow Throat     1
Yellow Breasted   Chat       1
Scarlet  Tanager   3
Cardinal       20
Eastern  Medowlark     1
Orchard  Oriole       2
Baltimore  Oriole     1  sang in the late afternoon
American  Goldfinch      13     including  4 feeding in a  patch of bull 
thistle  a stunning site the yellow birds set againist the large purple 
flowers  WOW
