Hi again,
I thought of asking for confirmation before sending these photos out and
embarrassing myself... but I didn't. As a result I am now embarrassed, and
must correct the info below.
The bird in the photos is a female red wionged blackbird, not the sparrow.
I was thrown by the orange on the neck and the short tail. Matt Hafner sent
me his photos, and that bird is way more orange than this.
Oh well, I learned something anyway.....
