My wife Jane and I birded Garrett County today, Saturday 5/27. We spend most
of our time at Mt. Nebo WMA, on U.S. 219, north of MD
135, in Garrett County - DeLorme 65 D-5.5. Thanks to Norm for the tip he
posted a few days ago. We saw 68 species including our targeted species of
Golden-winged Warbled and Black-billed Cuckoo.

The most unusual bird was an Olive-sided Flycatcher.

We were very lucky to run into Jon Boone who gave us many tips on birds in
the area.

The highlights in addition to the birds above were:

Broad-winged Hawk

Red-headed Woodpecker (south of Oakland)

Alder Flycatcher saying "Free Beer"

Northern Ravens

Black-capped Chickadees

Red-eyed Vireos (they seemed to be everywhere)

Scarlet Tanagers (the second most common bird)

Cerulean Warbler (Mt Zion Rd)

Blackburnian Warbler

Chestnut-sided Warblers

Northern Waterthrushes

Kentucky Warbler

Hooded Warbler

Canada Warbler

American Redstart

Bobolink (south of Oakland)

Rose-breasted Grosbeaks

We also saw a Black Bear about 15 miles southeast of Oakland.
