Six birders joined the Baltimore Bird Clubıs (BBC) Soldierıs Delight walk on
Sunday, June 4th. We tallied fifty species, and had a great time doing so.
Adult male Summer Tanagers were found singing in three locations along the
Red, and Orange Trails on the East side of Deer Park Road. (Another was
added after the BBC walk ended.) We confirmed the breeding status of six
species including a Northern Flicker exiting a nest cavity with a fecal sac;
a Red-bellied Woodpecker feeding young in her nesting cavity; an Eastern
Kingbird carrying nesting material; and Chipping Sparrow, Tufted Titmouse,
and Carolina Chickadee feeding begging fledglings. Warblers counted during
the walk included: Pine Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler,
Hooded Warblers, and Ovenbird.
