Hi all yesterday 6 - 4 - 06 I did some more Atlasing in My Centreville
CW block iIn Queen Annes County. I came across a Pileated Woodpecker
on a log on the ground in the deep shade , one heard calling as well . A
littlle latter I saw two fly out into the sunlight on the ground . I walked
up for a better view saw two fly up to some trees .Upon scaning around I
located 1 adult female and 2 recently fledged young . The yougsters
were about the same size as the adult just a bit smaller and the red on
the crests of the young birds was a paler red then the adult also had a
shoter tail. The adult seemed to be showing them how and were to find
food. The young could fly but never strayed to far and followed the
female around that was a thrilling confrimation .

Other Birds of note

Yellow Billed Cuckoo 2 not a sound from them would have been a nice
upgrade but not safe yet
Hairy woodpecker bumped up to probable on territory
Blue Jay 2 Carrying food going to the same area several times
Confrimed in this block already though

Tufted Titmouse 2 new for the block
White Breasted Nuthatch 1 heard only

Happy Birding
