The previously reported BBW-Duck was still at the pond in the
Washingtonian Center, Gaithersburg, this morning at 8:00 a.m.

When we arrived, George Jett and Gwen Brewer, who were already at the
site, pointed out the duck to us. At that time it was sleeping on
the rocks at the northeast part of the lake. Pretty soon, though, it
took off and landed a short distance away on the water. Then it took
off, calling loudly in a high-pitched whistle, and landed several
hundred yards to the south on the grass on the southeast side of the
lake, among many other (mostly non-wild) waterfowl. We found it
again standing on the rocks across from the Hamburger Hamlet.

As Paul O'Brien has pointed out, there is nothing obvious about this
bird that would indicate that it's from a wildfowl collection.. On
the other hand, it is quite tame and seems not to mind joggers coming
very close to it. It was still in the same place when we left just
before 8:30 a.m.

We took quite a few digital pictures through a 'scope and will be
happy to send a copy to anyone who is interested.
