This cooperative bird was exactly where stated this morning at 9am.. I
parked at RioGrande restaurant and walked out to the shady pavillion. It
was very close in the water, and then obligingly exited the water so I
could get an even better look.

With the recent requests for wheelchair friendly birding spots I wanted to
specifically state this one couldn't be better. We don't use a wheelchair
but my baby's stroller is just as unweildy. Also as a woman I am hesitant
to drive off to the unknown and remote spots for birding so it is nice
when something like this lands in a nice safe public spot.

I had a funny experience meeting up with J.Byrns (from Columbia) as I
spotted his binoculars and camera and approached with the code
words "Looking for the duck?". He gallantly pointed it out to me and we
exchanged our most prized items.. he handed me his binoculars and offered
to hold my stroller so it didn't roll down the hill.

A most satisfying way to start the morning.
