The Black-bellied Whistling Duck was at the same Rio pond this
morning. Marion and watched it from about 9 to 9:30 AM. For the whole
time it was on the bank across from cross-walk, standing on one pink leg,
usually with its head tucked under so the bill was not visible. It did not
seem to mind when we walked to within 20 yards of it, but neither did the
Canada Geese and Mallards in the same area of the bank.
