Hi all I was Atlasing in My home block Langford Creek SE
located all in Queen Annes County between Queenstown and Centreville on
Saturday morning 6 - 10 - -6 . While walking the road in front of my
house Jos Boyles road. I had a nice feeding flock of swallows flying over
the soybean field next door. Barn Swallow , Rough Winged Swallow. I was
hoping for Tree Swallow but it was not to be . Also presant were several
pairs of Purple Martin new for the block . I have not been able to find
a nesting colony here yet . Not that many homes in this block. Habitat is
mostly farm, ag areas , Two Large estates , some woods and it borders
the chester river .
While walking the road the local farmer stopped to chat briefly he
mentioned that down the road from the house Beaver have dammed up the
stream back in the woods a ways and I should walk back there and check it
out . Well I did it is an interesting habitat . Lots of dead trees a
nice ponded area , not to mention the trees the Beaver have chewed off or
are working on . Several ducks flew out when I got near but I could not
get a bead on them . Most likly wooducks No new Birds or new confrimations
but Hairy woodpecker , Red Bellied Woodpecker , Woodpewee , Tufted
Titmouse . Red winged blackbirds and Grackles as well . I watched A
Male and Female Orchard Oriole take food to their nest hanging near the
waters edge in a Black Gum tree I could see them feed young birds but
could not see he yougsters to see if they were orioles or Cowbirds
I was able to get Bobwhite on territory behind Our house and House
Sparrow feeding young up the road a little ways .
