Leslie,

I think Pentax has several models out there that are a waterproof and have
great optics at decent prices. The 8x32 DCF SP typically sells for under
500. They are a bit heavy for 8x32 but still pretty light and compact and if
your Swarovskis are full size bins it might be nice to have your back up
pair be a slightly different configuration. The Nikon Monarchs are also a
good bet. Be sure you try out a model before buying or buy from someone who
will allow you to return the binoculars if they don't work for you. Eye
relief, how they feel in the hands, weight are all extremely important and
can only really be evaluated by actually trying the binoculars out.

all the best,

William Leigh
Bridgewater VA
