Folks

Yesterday while atlasing in the Nanjemoy/Widewater area of western Charles County I had a first. Copulating Red-headed Woodpeckers. This represents a probable breeder, code "C". I don't see to many of the "C" category species. Maybe I should keep another list.

Right now anything that is likely to be nesting in MD/DC is in safe dates for the atlas project. If you have a block please get out and atlas. If you want a block or to help, contact the county coordinator in your county, or the county you want to atlas in. If you are birding in MD/DC you are collecting data. Night birds are especially needed. Just turn it in to the coordinator. The coordinator information is available on the MDBirds website.

Please help the species you enjoy while out birding.

George
