Spent this (Sat, 6/24) morning at Kenilworth Park (KP) & Aquatic Gardens
(KAG). Still no Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks, but I did see the following
of note:

1 HOODED MERGANSER (on the Anacostia, seen from KP)
3 GREAT EGRETS (2 on Anacostia, 1 at KAG)
1 RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD (gathering nesting material at end of boardwalk)
1 MARSH WREN (heard singing from boardwalk at KAG – the section that goes
off to the left)
1 NORTHERN PARULA (KAG)
1 PROTHONOTARY WARBLER (KAG)
2 YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS (both at KAG, first one at beginning of boardwalk,
before crossing stream, 2nd about ¾ of the way down the boardwalk)
1 SWAMP SPARROW (heard singing, first from KP overlooking KAG, then again
from the boardwalk at KAG – same spot as Marsh Wren)

Would be great to confirm Swamp Sparrow as a breeder, but couldn’t do so
today. Will try to get there next weekend to see if it’s on territory (then
I could add it to both the DCxJune and DCxJuly lists).

Good birding,
