But R-W Swallows may still be nesting -- if you see confirmatory breeding evidence then the "safe dates" do not apply. For example, we just returned from atlassing Kensington SE and had R-W Swallows entering and leaving their nest hole near the Rt. 29 dam, a place we have confirmed them in previous years (within offical safe dates).
I might add that this year we have had *many* more Wood Thrushes and Veeries on territory in our blocks, also a lot of Ovenbirds and Acadian FC. Today we must have had 6 (or more) Veeries singing on territory in less than 2 miles of stream valley. Lost count of Wood Thrushes, they were everywhere. In contrast, Warbling Vireos are down, as are Scarlet Tanagers, Wood-pewees and Great Crested FCs. And Swifts.
