You can tell we've hit that summer blah between breeding and fall migration
when little is happening but for some early shorebirds, which will be hard
to find here in the Piedmont because farm ponds are full and there aren't
any mudflats. The principle thread is about ticks and Lyme disease.
Today I did about a 15 min. walk on relatively flat ground and got
sweaty enough for a 2-hr hike up a mountain. The only Acadian I heard just
sat in one spot and did the hiccup. Doing a flutter call requires too much
energy for a day like this. Some Wood Thrush were out singing, but not a
whole lot.
Yesterday I worked up a good sweat mowing the lawn. And I was sitting
there on a tractor. I feel like I'm swimming when I'm just walking on
relatively dry ground.
    This too will pass.
