I recently ventured into some brush that was lousy with ticks and ended up
with seven bites - including two deer ticks the size of poppy seeds. I
removed them all promptly. I got pretty sick a couple weeks later - but
never had any rashes. My doctor told me he treats 100% of tick bites with a
21 day course of doxycycline (spelling?) - largely because many tick borne
diseases (esp. Lyme) can be asymptomatic for years. So if a tick bites,
maybe the best thing to do is assume the worst and get treated, even if
there are no symptoms. (My tests haven't come back.)
