Montgomery County may also have a new potential shorebird location. Until
repairs are made to the Lake Needwood earthen dam, damaged by high water
levels during the recent monsoons, county officials are proposing to lower
the water level of the lake below normal. This, in turn, should attract
shorebirds to exposed shorelines and mudflats.

Because of the low water level, the Oxbow should attract shorebirds that
love mudflats.
