Tricolored Herons in OC, MD

Hello all

 

This is my first time posting to MDOSPREY. I just wanted to advise anyone 

traveling to Ocean City this weekend to scope out the north end of 

Skimmer Island for 2 Tricolored Herons "dancing around." One appears to

be an immature.

 

Also saw many of the other usual suspects, including: Oyster Catchers, 

Brown Pelicans, Great Egrets, and Double-crested Cormorants. 

Curiously, no Black Skimmers.

 

I would also like to echo Janet Millenson's concern about Alternate 6 being

built anywhere near Skimmer Island. (Please see her entry for MDOSPREY 

July 2006 week 3.)
